Swiss federal authorities have formally requested information from the U.S .embassy in Bern over spying allegations, according to the new Swiss ambassador to Washington. The Swiss federal department of justice believes that the U.S. embassy and the mission in Geneva were used to conduct illegal surveillance. The most recent allegations came after the release of an American diplomatic cable by WikiLeaks. It described the surveillance of a Muslim couple who were parked opposite the U.S. mission in Geneva in 2005. Reporter Daniel Ryntjes has been talking to the new Swiss Ambassador to Washington, Manuel Sager, about this case and other sensitive diplomatic issues.
