Today we’ve received a threat by the United Kingdom, a clear and written threat that they could storm our embassy in London if Ecuador refuses to hand in Julian Assange.

This is your life. Do What you love, and do it often. If you don’t like something, change it. If you don’t like your job, quit. If you don’t have enough time, stop watching tv. If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love. Stop over analyzing, life is simple. All emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences. Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them. Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself. Some oppurtunities only comes once, seize them. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. Live your dream and share your passion.

Supreme Court of the United States
Struggles to coerce uniformity of sentiment in support of some end thought essential to their time and country have been waged by many good, as well as by evil, men. Nationalism is a relatively recent phenomenon, but, at other times and places, the ends have been racial or territorial security, support of a dynasty or regime, and particular plans for saving souls. As first and moderate methods to attain unity have failed, those bent on its accomplishment must resort to an ever-increasing severity. As governmental pressure toward unity becomes greater, so strife becomes more bitter as to whose unity it shall be. Probably no deeper division of our people could proceed from any provocation than from finding it necessary to choose what doctrine and whose program public educational officials shall compel youth to unite in embracing. Ultimate futility of such attempts to compel coherence is the lesson of every such effort from the Roman drive to stamp out Christianity as a disturber of its pagan unity, the Inquisition, as a means to religious and dynastic unity, the Siberian exiles as a means to Russian unity, down to the fast failing efforts of our present totalitarian enemies. Those who begin coercive elimination of dissent soon find themselves exterminating dissenters. Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard.

Despite inarguable ties between the U.S. and its closest ally in the Middle East, U.S. national security officials consider Israel to be, at times, a frustrating ally and a genuine counterintelligence threat.
The CIA considers Israel its No. 1 counterintelligence threat in the agency’s Near East Division, the group that oversees spying across the Middle East, according to current and former officials. Counterintelligence is the art of protecting national secrets from spies.

In the 60s, a Japanese song became incredibly popular not only in Japan but across the world. In Japan, it was called 上を向いて歩こう or roughly, “I Will Walk Looking Up.” It was an emotional song about the defeat of a popular Japanese protest movement against American military bases in Japan.
But people in English-speaking countries renamed it “Sukiyaki,” after a tasty Japanese dish which has absolutely nothing to do with what the song is about.
Little did we know that the Japanese have been exacting their revenge over our dumb translation for years, butchering American movie titles behind our backs.

European Union
Any person should have the right to have personal data concerning them rectified and a ‘right to be forgotten’ where the retention of such data is not in compliance with this Regulation. In particular, data subjects should have the right that their personal data are erased and no longer processed, where the data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which the data are collected or otherwise processed, where data subjects have withdrawn their consent for processing or where they object to the processing of personal data concerning them or where the processing of their personal data otherwise does not comply with this Regulation. This right is particularly relevant, when the data subject has given their consent as a child, when not being fully aware of the risks involved by the processing, and later wants to remove such personal data especially on the Internet. However, the further retention of the data should be allowed where it is necessary for historical, statistical and scientific research purposes, for reasons of public interest in the area of public health, for exercising the right of freedom of expression, when required by law or where there is a reason to restrict the processing of the data instead of erasing them.

Internet no olvida.

The amount of data in the world is exploding – large portion of this comes from the interactions over mobile devices being used by people in the developing world – people whose needs and habits have been poorly understood until now. Researchers and policymakers are beginning to realize the potential for channeling these torrents of data into actionable information that can be used to identify needs & provide services for the benefit of low-income populations. This discussion note is a Call-to-action for stakeholders for concerted action to ensure that this data helps the individuals and communities who create it.

Kauder and Struck can also feel vindicated by the fact that Anglo-Saxon capitalism was seen as a model for the rest of the world until recently, because it promised more wealth to the industrious. But it was the recklessness, the sheer savageness of this model that caused the crisis. Now German politicians can hope to shed their dull and tedious reputation worldwide, because what they have at home is the alternative to Anglo-Saxon turbo-capitalism, even as neglected as it has been: the social market economy, guided by the principles of consideration, scruples and compromise.

It was a glorious day in autumn. The sky of unsullied Dlue glowed like a sapphire. The universal air was filled with stillness. Not a breeze whispered , — not a bird flapped its wing. It was the triumph of repose, — when the undying energies of man slumbered for a moment, — when even the conflict of his passions was suspended. Beautiful, melancholy autumn! whose ruddy ripeness whispers of decay; whose richest teints mingle with “the sere and yellow leaf,” as if the lusty year had toiled through youth and manhood for wealth which overflows, just when waning life indicates that the power of enjoyment is passing away.
A small grove of noble chestnuts threw its kindly shadow over a house of modest elegance. Sheltered from the fierce beams that darted from the south, the weary wayfarer gazed on it with a longing eye, as a nest of domestic comfort. And in that spot the dearest household charities had flourished ; it was the home of a widow and her only child.
But now an awful visitant was there. Death had laid his hand on the beloved, the revered, parent. For her, time had sounded his last note, and she was whispering her dying counsels in the ear of the fair creature who knelt by her side. Pale as the young face was, which was turned upward, now to the dying mother, now to heaven, it was glorious in its rare beauty. Sorrow and watching had dimmed the brilliance of its colouring ; but the eye of holy blue, the noble brow, the polished forehead, the glittering hair displaying its golden luxuriance as it hung neglected and unbound — were still there. It was the face of an angel in its beauty ; but the feelings, the sufferings of a mortal wore marring its brightness.

US President Barack Obama has signed a secret order allowing the CIA and other American agencies to support rebels seeking to overthrow the Assad regime, a US government source told Reuters.
Obama reportedly gave the order, known as an intelligence “finding”, earlier this year. The presidential finding also provides for US collaboration with a secret command center operated by Turkey and its allies.
The full extent of the assistance the “finding” allows the CIA to give the Syrian rebels is unclear. It is also unknown precisely when Obama signed the order.

President Obama’s own work in 1983 for Business International Corporation, a CIA front that conducted seminars with the world’s most powerful leaders and used journalists as agents abroad, dovetails with CIA espionage activities conducted by his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham in 1960s post-coup Indonesia on behalf of a number of CIA front operations, including the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Ford Foundation. Dunham met and married Lolo Soetoro, Obama’s stepfather, at the East-West Center in 1965. Soetoro was recalled to Indonesia in 1965 to serve as a senior army officer and assist General Suharto and the CIA in the bloody overthrow of President Sukarno.

Everyone’s talking about Brazil-Mexico (for good reason) on the men’s side of the Olympic tournament, but allow us to submit another thought: Japan-Korea is actually a better matchup.
Why?
Because these teams have history. The Wall Street Journal explains in a story today: “While relations between Japan and South Korea have grown friendly in recent decades, when it comes to sports, they remain best of enemies. An intense rivalry developed as the two neighbors became rising powers first in baseball, then in soccer.
Sure, it’s just the Olympics, but rivalries are rivalries and wins are wins. All we’re saying is don’t sleep on the bronze-medal match.

London's Olympic Games, praised around the globe for great sport and brilliant organisation, were smeared on Wednesday by the world’s most infamous dealer in sporting drugs.
Victor Conte, jailed in the United States for his role in supplying athletes such as Dwain Chambers and Marion Jones with so-called designer drugs, told The Times that six out of 10 athletes at the Games are taking banned substances.

The scam goes deeper. The big crooks are World Media Group, LLC. But, you say, “World Media Group” is a big respected ISP. That’s World Media Group, Inc.! Totally different. World Media Group, LLC is an ISP that creates fictitious clients who do nasty things. “Not our bad…stupid clients”, is their constant refrain. Nearly every WMG, LLC hosted domain is a scam. You know those fake prize announcement spams? That’s them. … They maintain a store front ISP biz to look good, but no one has ever been happy with that service, as it’s just a cover and they try to rip people off that way too. The guy to put the heat on (and refer to these emails below- make a FBI complaint too- it worked!) is: Gary Millin.

After remaining stable during most of the postwar period, top wealth shares recently have trended upward in the United States. The average net worth–wealth minus debt–of the top 1% wealth class grew by 78% from 1983 to 2004, while for the middle 20% net worth grew by 27%. Financial development is related to wealth accumulation at the top. Non-residential assets are relatively unimportant for the median wealth bracket (24% of net worth), but for the top 1% they constitute 91% of net worth. Hence the recent decline in housing prices is shrinking the wealth owned by the median household. The top 1% owns 42% of net financial assets; the bottom 90 % owns 19 %. The income derived from owning financial assets–especially equities– has risen in recent year. Corporate payouts are up, as are opportunities for capital gains. (A dollar invested in an S&P index fund in 1980 would be worth $1500 today.) In 2004, the top 10% accounted for 61% of all unrealized capital gains. To the extent that the wealthy get better (including inside) information and realize larger financial returns than the less wealthy, their share of finance-derived income will be greater than their share of financial wealth. …
U.S. institutional investors in 1960 owned 12% of U.S. equities; by1990 they owned 45% and the share rose to 61% in 2005. Institutions today own 68% of the 1000 largest U.S. public corporations. Although institutional holdings rose over a long period, it was in the 1980s that institutions first began to flex their muscles as shareholder activists. Because institutional investors rarely own more than 1% of a company, they can and do press companies to pursue riskier business strategies such as heavy debt, the payment of which requires stringent cost-cutting. Indeed, institutional activism is associated with asset divestitures and with layoffs. This does not mean that institutions push firms to the edge of bankruptcy, but even a bankruptcy now and then would not do major damage to their portfolios.

Barbarians at the Gate has been called one of the most influential business books of all time — the definitive account of the largest takeover in Wall Street history. Bryan Burrough and John Helyar’s gripping account of the frenzy that overtook Wall Street in October and November of 1988 is the story of deal makers and publicity flaks, of strategy meetings and society dinners, of boardrooms and bedrooms — giving us not only a detailed look at how financial operations at the highest levels are conducted but also a richly textured social history of wealth at the twilight of the Reagan era.

We are well underway toward recognition that property used in production must conform to conceptions of civilization worked out through democratic processes of American constitutional government. Few American enterprises, and no large corporations, can take the view that their plants, tools and organizations are their own, and that they can do what they please with their own. There is increasing recognition of the fact that collective operations, and those predominantly conducted by large corporations, are like operations carried on by the state itself. Corporations are essentially political constructs. Their perpetual life, their capacity to accumulate tens of billions of assets, and to draw profit from their production and their sales, has made them part of the service of supply of the United States. Informally they are an adjunct of the state itself. The “active”— that is, productive —property of an organization increasingly is prevented from invading personality and freedom, from discriminating in employment and service against categories of men, in recklessly using their market control.
Passive property— notably, stock— increasingly loses its “capital” function. It becomes primarily a method for distributing liquid wealth and a channel for distributing income whose accumulation for capital purposes is not required. The corporation may, and indeed is expected to, retain earnings for the maintenance and enlargement of its capital plant and operations. The stockholder’s right to spend the income from or use the liquid value of his shares as he pleases is guarded as a defense of his right to order his own life.

There is in front of you young people today the promise of a greater tomorrow. It is a tomorrow that is brighter than yesterday, and it is a tomorrow that is more challenging than today. This is not a time for timid souls and trembling spirits. We have it within our power to find the best solutions to the worst of problems, and we intend to do just that.
So let your young hearts armed with new weapons join in an old battle against ancient enemies–the enemies of poverty, disease, illiteracy, strife, and bigotry.
And with your courage and with your compassion and your desire, we will build the Great Society. It is a Society where no child will go unfed, and no youngster will go unschooled. Where no man who wants work will fail to find it. Where no citizen will be barred from any door because of his birthplace or his color or his church. Where peace and security is common among neighbors and possible among nations.

Paul Krugman
… a funny thing happened on the way to the predicted fiscal crisis: instead of soaring, U.S. borrowing costs have fallen to their lowest level in the nation’s history. And it’s not just America. At this point, every advanced country that borrows in its own currency is able to borrow very cheaply. …
So what is going on? The main answer is that this is what happens when you have a “deleveraging shock,” in which everyone is trying to pay down debt at the same time. Household borrowing has plunged; businesses are sitting on cash because there’s no reason to expand capacity when the sales aren’t there; and the result is that investors are all dressed up with nowhere to go, or rather no place to put their money. So they’re buying government debt, even at very low returns, for lack of alternatives. Moreover, by making money available so cheaply, they are in effect begging governments to issue more debt.

Thus it is our task to form a third front above and cutting across the two belligerent fronts, a third front which is directed against neither of them, but which works for the benefit of both. The combatants of this third front are interested only in the suffering of the defenceless human being, irrespective of his nationality, his convictions or his past. They fight wherever they can against all inhumanity, against every degradation of the human personality, against all injustice directed against defenceless human beings. It is for these fighters that Dr. Junod has coined the expression ‘the third combatant’.

It seems that the British Olympic Team is not the biggest fans of the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones as it took the step of banning its athletes from wearing them late last week.
When the participants of the London 2012 games arrived in the city, boxes of the Beats headphones were delivered to the hotels and Olympic Village with the headphones inside.
… as Beats didn’t pay for the product placement, instead, the British team has a sponsorship deal with Panasonic. According to the International Olympic Committee’s Rule 40, no athlete may endorse a product they have a personal sponsorship with while at the games on or off the field, and that includes social media.

Sovereign debt is different from private debt because creditors do not have a well defined claim on the sovereign’s assets. The lack of a procedure for enforcing sovereign debt contracts is partly due to the principle of sovereign immunity. However it also relates to the fact that, even when creditors obtain a favorable ruling, they cannot attach assets which are located within the borders of the defaulting country, and in fact have had limited success in going after assets located abroad.

… in East Asian societies, Confucianism has provided a moral and philosophical basis for self-construal and social order. … collectivist societies that support the basic tenets of Confucianism prioritize the common good and social harmony over individual interests. All individuals are assumed to be linked in a web of interrelatedness. Individuals are conceived to be embedded and situated in particular roles and status. They are bound by relationships that emphasize common fate. Individuals are bound by relationships, which emphasize a common fate. Individuals are encouraged to put other people’s and the group’s interests before their own. From a societal point of view, duties and obligations are prescribed by roles, and individuals lose “face” if they fail to fulfill these duties and obligations. Concession and compromise are essential ingredients in promoting role-based and virtue-based conceptions of justice. Social order is maintained when everyone fulfills his or her roles and duties. Institutions are seen as an extension of the family, and paternalism and legal moralism (i.e., moral values institutionalized in legal codes) reign supreme. In order to promote the collective welfare and social harmony, individuals are encouraged to suppress any individualist and hedonistic desires. As a result, interdependency, succour, nurturance, common fate, and compliance are important aspects of East Asian collectivism.

Individualism pertains to societies in which the ties between individuals are loose: everyone is expected to look after himself or herself and his or her immediate family.
Collectivism as its opposite pertains to societies in which people from birth onwards are integrated into strong, cohesive in-grups, which throughout people’s lifetime continue to protect them in exchange for unquestioning loyalty.

What we all need to understand is the rise of China. Everybody talks about China these days, but most people do not seem to understated what’s really happening in China. China is going to be the next great country in the world whether we like it or not.
The 19th century was the century of the UK, the 20th century was the century of the US, the 21st century is going to be the century of China.
Now I know they call themselves communists in China but let me tell you they are amongst the best capitalists in the whole world. In fact in China they save and invest over 35 percent of their income. In America we save and invest 2 or 3 percent of our income.
China has been the most successful country in the past thirty years. They will continue that for a long time.

Kim Young-hwan, the North Korea human rights activist from South Korea, told local media that about two weeks after his March 29th arrest, Chinese authorities deprived him of sleep for seven straight days.
On the sixth day of sleep deprivation, Kim said he was electrically tortured for about five to eight hours, and slapped on the face until he was bruised.
He said it was only after he began to speak about his activities in China related to North Korean human rights, that the electric shocks and beatings ended.
Yet the authorities forced the activist to sleep while sitting on a chair for another two weeks.

With four months to go until Election Day, President Obama’s well-funded campaign on the airwaves is focusing on two broad themes: that he is a fighter for the middle class who needs more time to finish the job, and that Republican rival Mitt Romney is obsessed with corporate profits to the point of being borderline unpatriotic. …
The Obama campaign’s attack on Mr. Romney’s record in the private sector is aided by the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA, which is run by two former Obama White House staffers, Bill Burton and Sean Sweeney. From April 10 through June 28, 100 percent of the ads sponsored by Priorities USA mentioned Bain Capital by name, according to a study by Kantar Media’s campaign media analysis group. …
The campaign spent $12 million on TV ads in a single week last month, after a $25 million, monthlong ad buy that ended in early June. The Obama team has purchased $6.5 million worth of airtime for TV ads during the Olympic Games in London, which begin July 27.
