United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS)

Three deficits in development in the Arab countries:
  • knowledge deficit*;
  • deficit in the engagement of women in various aspects of society;
  • democracy deficit.

* There are many times the number of books translated into Greek, a language spoken by about 10 million people, as translated into Arabic, a language spoken by about 200 million people
